Izzy Carlile

Managing Director
Izzy joined Batch in 2022 having had a long career delivering a broad range of business solutions across the retail, supply chain and distribution sectors.

Izzy joined Batch in 2022 having had a long career delivering a broad range of business solutions across the retail, supply chain and distribution sectors. In 2024 Izzy took over the role of Managing Director for Batch from Fraser Tanner following his decision to take a step towards semi-retirement and now leads the business to provide solutions that improve the flow of information between companies within the book trade.

Fraser Tanner

CEO Batch For Books
Fraser Tanner joined Batch Ltd in 2000 from the world of foreign exchange, where he had rolled out an internet trading solution for business-to-business payments through the international banking systems.

Fraser Tanner joined Batch Ltd in 2000 from the world of foreign exchange, where he had rolled out an internet trading solution for business-to-business payments through the international banking systems. In developing Batch to improve the flow of information and integration between companies within the book and non-book trade, Fraser was instrumental in winning UK industry awards for the service. His focus now is on further developing the US business, Batch for Books

Jackie Barnetson 

Head of Business and Commercial Operations
Jackie joined the team in October 2025 bringing experience of leading customer operations and business transformation across retail, digital and government organisations introducing new digital systems and strengthening service performance. 

Having spent her career helping organisations navigate change – from start-ups to large public bodies – Jackie is particularly interested in making complex processes simpler and more intuitive for the people who rely on them. Of her role as Head of Business and Commercial Operations, Jackie said “I’m delighted and excited to be working with our teams and partners to deliver processes and systems which drive simplicity, efficiency and support the sustainability of independent bookselling in the future!”. 

Roshni Sedani

Administration Manager
Roshni ensures that crucial financial transactions proceed smoothly across the entire business: Batch, Batch for Books (our US company), and the BatchLine POS stock management system.

Roshni ensures that crucial financial transactions proceed smoothly across the entire business: Batch, Batch for Books (our US company), and the BatchLine POS stock management system. She manages the day-to-day running of Batch in conjunction with Paul, Lori and the rest of the admin team.

Simon Parker

Business Development Manager
Simon was Batch's first full-time employee when he joined in March 2000. He designed the original Batch Returns system, which was further developed by Maria Quinn and her team.

Simon was Batch’s first full-time employee when he joined in March 2000. He designed the original Batch Returns system, which was further developed by Maria Quinn and her team. Simon’s role includes liaising with suppliers on the use of the system. He also sits on a number of industry steering groups and co-ordinates with our external IT experts on new developments.

Martin Beach

Senior Support Technician
Martin joined Batch to act as booksellers' main support contact for BatchLine POS, a position he held for many years when the business was part of Bertrams.

Martin joined Batch to act as booksellers’ main support contact for BatchLine POS, a position he held for many years when the business was part of Bertrams. Today BatchLine is installed in around 300 shops in the UK, Ireland and as far afield as the Cayman Islands. As lead engineer, Martin works closely with the rest of the team on software development, customer training and support.

Chris Backhouse

BatchLine Technician
Chris joined Batch in October 2023 as our newest BatchLine recruit. He works closely with Sam, Martin and Jon (our lead developer) to support and train booksellers in the best use of the system.

Chris joined Batch in October 2023 as our newest BatchLine recruit. He works closely with Sam, Martin and Jon (our lead developer) to support and train booksellers in the best use of the system. He has previously worked in IT Support, supporting a multitude of users both in the UK and across Europe, on software QA (quality assurance) and testing. Chris says “I’m really looking forward to getting to know the different bookshops and how they operate.”

Sam Nicholls

BatchLine Technician
Sam worked in retail and in events before joining BatchLine.

Sam worked in retail and in events before joining BatchLine. He works closely with Martin Beach and the development team on improvements to the system, as well as providing daily support to booksellers. He says “It has been a delight chatting to all the lovely booksellers who are so varied and interesting.”

Kishan Solanki

Assistant Technical Business Analyst
Kishan joined Batch in 2022 as his first permanent role post-graduating that same year. Kishan’s role consists of dealing with booksellers' and suppliers' technical queries.

Kishan joined Batch in 2022 as his first permanent role post-graduating that same year. Kishan’s role consists of dealing with booksellers’ and suppliers’ technical queries. He also monitors file processes and business communications to ensure all types of files are collected, processed, and sent out efficiently and coherently.

Janet Ravenscroft

Sales and Marketing Manager
Janet spent many years as a commissioning editor in non-fiction publishing. She is often the first point of contact for booksellers enquiring about Batch and BatchLine.

Janet spent many years as a commissioning editor in non-fiction publishing. She is often the first point of contact for booksellers enquiring about Batch and BatchLine. She creates our promotional material and, as part of the sales team, enjoys presenting our UK and US services to booksellers worldwide. She has a writing alter ego called Jan Ellis who is currently ‘resting’.

Paul James

Administrative Assistant
Paul assists Roshni Sedani and other colleagues with a range of administrative tasks and provides back-up to booksellers around the world.

Paul assists Roshni Sedani and other colleagues with a range of administrative tasks and provides back-up to booksellers around the world. If you have an issue with Payments or Returns, Paul is usually the man with the answers. Reggie, the official Batch dog, technically belongs to Janet Ravenscroft but secretly loves Paul more. 

Lori Kelly

Administrative Assistant
As well as her daily administrative duties, Lori assists with the set-up of booksellers on Batch Payments and Returns accounts and provides training and valuable after-care.

Lori assists Roshni Sedani and works closely with Paul James. As well as her daily administrative duties, Lori assists with the set-up of booksellers on Batch Payments and Returns accounts and provides training and valuable after-care. After working for many years in the travel industry, Lori is predominantly responsible for looking after our international booksellers. With a passion for delivering excellent customer service, Lori has become a firm favourite with booksellers.

Maria Quinn

Maria came to Batch in 2009 with a background in bookselling and systems development.

After a three year stint in an academic bookshop, she persuaded her employer to create a role for her, managing the chain’s emerging web presence. She learned on the job, reading computing books borrowed from the shop floor and built the world’s first e-commerce site for books.

Ewan MacIntyre

Ewan joined Batch in 2013, having previously worked in the banking and technology sectors.

He has provided invaluable architectural and design insights towards many projects. His key contributions include a Batch interface with Xero and QuickBooks and work to integrate price and availability data into BatchLine. He is highly regarded as a trouble-shooter and problem solver.

Nathan Halter, Batch For Books (USA)

Program Manager
A long-time veteran of the indie bookstore community, Nathan manages the Batch for Books program in the US.

A long-time veteran of the indie bookstore community, Nathan manages the Batch for Books program in the US. He works closely with bookstores and book vendors to help them most effectively use Batch for Books and provide support for any and all user inquiries.

Miracle Lucketti 

Program Coordinator 
Miracle spent many years in early childhood education, cultivating her passion for reading, until choosing to centre her life around books.

Since 2021, she has worked as a bookseller at an independent bookstore in Bremerton, Washington, and has built an extensive home library as a result. When she isn’t reading, you’ll find Miracle thinking about the next time she can read or watching her favourite hockey team and shouting “shoot the puck!” at the television 

Reggie

Batch Dog
Meet our Chief Morale Officer: a four-legged professional with a proven track record in boosting team spirit.

Reggie took over the role of Batch Dog from Houdi in 2018 and has since proved himself to be a dim, but enthusiastic part of the team. His role includes greeting visitors to the office and attending Team meetings, which he particularly enjoys. Reggie’s hobbies include chasing squirrels, eating and sleeping.
